Flow Audiobooks — Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 17, 2026
GoToIX ("we", "us", or "our") built Flow Audiobooks as a commercial application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use Flow Audiobooks.
1. Information We Collect
Flow Audiobooks is designed with your privacy in mind. Here is what information the app accesses:
1.1 Plex Account Credentials
When you sign in, Flow uses Plex's official OAuth flow to authenticate your account. Your Plex username and authentication token are stored securely in your device's Keychain. We never see, store, or transmit your Plex password.
1.2 Library Data
Flow fetches audiobook metadata (titles, authors, cover art, chapter information) directly from your Plex Media Server. This data is used solely to display your library and enable playback. It is not transmitted to our servers.
1.3 Playback Data
Your listening progress, bookmarks, favorites, and categories are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Playback progress is also reported back to your Plex server (the same behavior as any Plex client) so you can resume across devices.
1.4 Dropbox (Optional)
If you choose to connect a Dropbox account, Flow uses Dropbox's OAuth 2.0 flow with PKCE for secure authentication. Your Dropbox access token is stored locally on your device. We do not access your Dropbox files without your explicit action.
1.5 Local Network Access
Flow requires local network access to communicate with your Plex Media Server. This connection stays between your device and your server. No data passes through our infrastructure.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect analytics or usage telemetry
- We do not use advertising SDKs or tracking frameworks
- We do not collect your location data
- We do not collect device identifiers for profiling
- We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties
3. Data Storage
All user data is stored locally on your device:
- Authentication tokens: Stored in the iOS Keychain (hardware-encrypted)
- Library data, bookmarks, favorites, categories: Stored locally via SwiftData
- Downloaded audiobooks: Stored in the app's local Documents directory
- Preferences: Stored in UserDefaults on your device
4. Third-Party Services
Flow communicates with the following third-party services:
- Plex (plex.tv): For authentication and server discovery. Subject to Plex's Privacy Policy.
- Dropbox (optional): For file access if you connect your account. Subject to Dropbox's Privacy Policy.
No data is sent to GoToIX servers. Flow operates entirely between your device and your own Plex server.
5. Children's Privacy
Flow Audiobooks is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Data Deletion
You can delete all app data at any time by:
- Signing out of your Plex account within the app (clears credentials and local data)
- Deleting downloaded content in Settings > Downloads
- Uninstalling the app (removes all local data, including Keychain items)
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
